Dinner Is Nearly Ready

Thank you ladies for setting up to make our Fellowship Dinner a perfect end to our kickoff meeting.

A time of Praise and Worship, helped us all forget about not being able to Ride right now. Our relationships were rekindled through the friendships of many years now, brightening the time we shared this evening.

Then looking back at the past year with a focus on the roadways and events God has for this Fellowship in the months ahead.

We will continue to gather on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays each month and will go as God leads us.

We will spend a day in prison sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

We will have our own Ride for Rachel House this summer.

We will be Riding together with other groups and reaching out in service and missions projects throughout this year.

We will not want to miss any of those devine appointments God has planned.

FREE Cold Bottled Water This Exit

An outreach project to minister to all who stopped at a highway Rest Area by simply giving away cold bottled water, hot dogs and snacks. Joined by a small AZ-U-R Road band for the morning, we ministered to all who would come over and get a free bottle of water and some food. It was fun to visit with folks from all over the country whether on their way to the Sturgis Rally or just on a day trip to visit family.

Pastor Pete joined in our caravan of bikes at Oak Grove as we headed east on I-70 towards Concordia and on into Boonville. Enjoying the great weather and the Ride we arrived in Boonville at 10:30 and made our way through town to Nelson Memorial Methodist Church, our gathering point in Boonville.

For those going into the BCC this will be a day like most of us have never experienced. This the 11th year for the Event where a motorcycling ministry is allowed to come inside the fences and spend the day with the entire population of 1500 men.

As the 50 bikes gathered that were cleared to go inside the fence today, you sensed that this was going to be a big event. The AZ-U-R band had arrived early and “Rock”, the 4-time loser evangelist speaker also arrived from St. Louis. After emptying our pockets and our bikes of all but our ID and bike key, we ate lunch prepared by the church women and Larry gave instructions. So with no cellphones, money, tools or luggage we headed over to the BCC entrance gates on the bikes.

Riding up to the gates and seeing the razor wire atop the high chain link fence gave you a better understanding of where we were going to spend the day. Entering through the first gate to get the bikes searched, showing ID and our hand stamped we were then sent through the next gate and rode to the Rec Yard where the band was set up and we parked the bikes there.

No cameras or pictures were allowed inside so all these photos were taken outside the facility.

First 28 House came and walked down the rows of bikes, visiting with us as they felt comfortable. Then when they returned back home the inmates from the South Housing came down the hill. The band played and Rock spoke for about an hour then those men were taken back and the yard cleared.

As the last section of prisoners from the North Housing came in we knew what to expect and again many great 1-on-1 conversations were had. Sharing the brief time with these mostly young men was emotionally hard to see as their faces lit up when they knew someone cared for them and would spend an hour of our lives together. The bikes were the draw as was the band, but 100+ people giving up the day to come spend it with them, I think had the greatest impact on them.

We were all once again ID’d, checked and cleared to leave just as we had come in, leaving much conversation behind and taking a heart full home. It was hard to watch as they walked away from us and returned to their life inside the fence.

At 6:00pm we returned with only 8 folks for Chapel Service. Walking in through the gates this time and leaving the bikes in the parking lot. ID’d and other hand stamped we walked across the campus to the Chapel. A regular Chapel service will draw 16 men, but this was not a regular service as God had touched these men’s lives today and 61 men came for worship.

I don’t know how many came forward to receive Christ last night, but Pastor Pete, Rock, Larry and the only two BMW riders got an opportunity to share the love and grace of Jesus Christ with them. Many came and we all prayed as God led them to the alter. The day began with fellowship and it continued for the entire day. Our God had a plan to bless and touch everyone willing to enter into His presence and shine His face upon them on this Day of Ministry at the Boonville Correctional Center.

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.       Romans 5:8 NIV

Nature's Pantry

It was a cool 35 degree morning but a good number of folks came out on the bikes Saturday at 8:00 to gather and Ride over to Nature’s Pantry for hot pancakes, eggs and sausage. We arrived at 8:45 to find a good number of Rachel House supporters already there enjoying their breakfast. The Blue Springs bikes came in as we were parking and visiting with good friends. I counted 11 bikes and 22 of our group there to support the Rachel House Pregnancy Resource Ministry.

Nature’s Pantry provided and cooked up a filling and healthy breakfast, while Rachel House Staff and Volunteers shared information about their ministry to our communities across the city. Mary McKena with KFKF 94.1 fm was there broadcasting Live from inside the store. She had give away CD’s and Tickets all helping add to the festivities and to promote this Annual event.

Nature’s Pantry is a tremendous partner and friend to the Rachel House ministry and matched the donations given to Rachel House on Saturday, dollar for dollar. I was pleased that we were able to join in with a good number of folks again this year as we continue our support of the Rachel House Pregnancy Resource
Centers, our group’s chosen mission project.

The Motorcycle Fellowship of Kansas City, a motorcycle outreach ministry.

We have adopted a mission statement that is ‘We Ride So Others May Live’. This is a very simple statement founded on, who we are , what we do and why we do it.

‘We Ride… motorcycles, we enjoy doing this and this is what on the surface is common to us all (we do not exclude those who don’t ride but this is our targeted group). Activities of this group will be centered around motorcycling.

…So Others… who ride motorcycles, whom we meet and start up conversations with, become friends with and share our faith with, will come and join us. The ‘Others’ also represents those whom we will minister to in a physical way through our various missions projects. Our major mission project will be to organize and present the Ride for Rachel House motorcycle benefit ride in June.

…May Live’ a life knowing Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. As God has drawn each of us into a personal relationship with Him, he uses us to reach out to others who are lost and dying. We also reach out to those who are hurting, desperate, pregnant and unborn through our support of the Rachel House Ministries.

God has plans that are not our own. Isaiah 55:8 says “My thoughts are not your thoughts neither are your ways my ways.”

What does God want to do with this motorcycle group?

It is not just to ride and eat together.

It is not just to make new friends.

It is not just to pray, praise and worship together.

It is not just to bring more people into a saving relationship with Christ.

It is not just about the missions work He has given us to do.

It is all these things and more, more than we can even imagine.

  Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us,  to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen. Ephesians 3:20-21

We meet at 2 NE Douglas St., Lee’s Summit (small annex building in rear parking lot of First Baptist Church) on the 2nd and 4th Saturday’s of each month at 6:00pm.
